Introduction to Linear Algebra

This text is intended to serve as either a supplement to the calculus sequence or as an independent short course in the calculus of finite differences. The book will probably find its greatest use as part of the calculus sequence. Although the material is somewhat more specialized than material usually found in calculus, lest it could be used before if it is desirable to introduce variations in the material. Each chapter contains a list of problems and answers. The problems are graded according to the judgment of the instructor. The author contemplates an equal balance between computational ability and rigor. Each chapter includes a list of references to geometry. The chapter on determinants is intended to be independent of the rest of the text. Each chapter includes a few references at the end.
