On Ideology

In this series of books each volume is devoted to a specific theme, and the papers represent the collective result on that theme by staff and research students in the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (1–8) magazine from CCCS, Birmingham) which will necessarily abridge the material in the form as an annual collection.

Ideology is a central contemporary cultural studies theme. On Ideology is a product of the collective work of two writers and researchers who have addressed the recurring problems of the articulation of cultural studies with some Marxist traditions and, in the first part is explicitly thematic – outlining of important theories of ideology from Marx, Gramsci to Althusser and Lacan.
